To: Westminster City Council
Each Sunday, Marylebone Farmers' Market brings 30 to 40 stalls of fruit, vegetables and all kinds of fresh produce into central London for local people to buy.
Sadly, Westminster Council is considering the future of market's home, the Moxon Street/Cramer Street car park, including the possibility that it will be sold off for development.
Local Lib Dems campaigned to save the market when Westminster Council last wanted to build on the site, back in 2008. We saved the market's Marylebone home then, we must save it again now.
We, the undersigned, oppose any sell-off by Westminster Council of the home of Marylebone Farmers' Market. We believe that the market enhances the quality of life here in Marylebone and do not want to lose it.
We therefore call on Westminster Council to guarantee the future of the farmers' market here in the heart of Marylebone, on its existing, council-owned site.
