Local LibDems Sue Baring and Mark Blackburn try to find Newton Road's missing lamp post
Residents of Newton Road have asked the Liberal Democrats to help them find out what has happened to one of their street's lamp posts. It used to be located outside St Paul's United Reformed Church, but has now disappeared.
Commenting, local campaigner Sue Baring said: "It's all very odd. There is absolutely no sign of where the old lamp post used to be. The Council seems to have torn it down, then stamped out any trace of it."
She continued: "This is a serious business. I spoke to a lady who lives on Newton Road who told me that she gets worried for her safety when returning home in the evening.
"I'll be raising this with the Council. We must help residents stay safe."
