Brian Paddick has serious solutions for London
The LibDems have secured more votes than any other party in the council by-elections held in London in the last six months.
Number-crunchers have counted up all the real votes cast in real ballot boxes since September last year, and the results are:
Liberal Democrat candidates: 12,378 votes (38.4%)
Conservative candidates: 9,890 (30.7%)
Labour candidates: 7,343 (22.8%)
Other candidates attracted a total of 8.1% of the votes cast.
Commenting, Merlene Emerson, the prospective Liberal Democrat candidate for the London Assembly's West Central constituency, which includes the City of Westminster, said:
"With fewer than 50 days to go before Londoners head to polling stations to elect the Mayor and Assembly Members who will represent them for the next four years, this is very encouraging news. These are real votes in real ballot boxes in council by-elections held all over London.
"I am sure that people are turning in ever larger numbers to the Liberal Democrats because they are seeing more of Brian Paddick. He has serious solutions for London, and would make an absolutely first-class Mayor.
"He has 30 years' experience as a police officer here in the capital. This is a person who knows exactly what is happening on our streets and what action is needed to make our city safer."
