Our carbon-neutral website can be accessed online from anywhere
On Thursday 8th February, this website [http://www.westminsterlibdems.org.uk/] became carbon neutral, with the emissions from powering the server on which it is hosted being offset.
The money paid to offset the emissions will be used to invest in projects such as planting trees, creating wind farms and renewable energy projects throughout the world.
Commenting, local party chair Mark Blackburn said, "The Liberal Democrats have the most ambitious plans to protect our global environment, and I am very pleased that this website, and hundreds of other LibDem local party websites, are now carbon neutral. We're thinking globally and acting locally.
"In future we won't just offset our emissions, but take it a step further and cut our energy consumption too. I have been assured by the company that hosts our website that when buying servers in the future they will look for more energy efficient models."
The local LibDem website was launched in June 2006.
