How does Conservative-run Westminster come up with this kind of stuff?
Conservative-run Westminster Council is reported to be pushing for a new law to crack down on those involved in feeding the homeless. This has been labelled "a disgrace" by local Liberal Democrats, who have launched a petition against it.
A new law could allow the Council to fine those who operate soup runs and similar efforts to feed homeless people living in central London.
Commenting, local LibDem Stuart Bonar said, "As I understand it, this proposed new law could be used to crack down on people feeding the homeless, yet it would allow for companies to continue giving free samples of new foods and drinks to commuters. That is an absolute disgrace.
"How do they come up with this kind of stuff?"
The Liberal Democrats are encouraging local people who oppose a new law to sign their petition. It can be signed online at http://campaigns.libdems.org.uk/foodnotfines
