Local Liberal Democrat Martin Thompson is condemning Cities of London and Westminster's Conservative MP Mark Field as "lazy" for ignoring a campaign to save local independent shops in his constituency.
Martin wrote to the MP originally on 27th April asking if he would support the campaign to save local independent shops from the threat of a new Tesco on the corner of Hayes Place and Lisson Grove. If built, it would be the 10th Tesco within a single square mile.
Martin wrote again to the MP on 31 May. Despite this however there has still been nothing but silence from Mr Field. Yesterday [Saturday 16th June] was the 50th day of inaction from the MP.
Commenting, Martin said: "This is the behaviour of an awfully lazy MP. To utterly ignore this campaign, which has so far been supported by 1,100 people, is shameful.
"Mark Field's salary and office costs eat up over £100,000 of taxpayers' money every year. As far as I am concerned that is money down the drain when he cannot even be bothered to answer two letters."
