Westminster Conservatives adopt another common-sense green policy from the LibDems
Local Liberal Democrats are celebrating after another of their green policies is being adopted by Conservative-run Westminster Council.
The Council is to offer free parking for residents with greener cars that run on electricity and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). The Liberal Democrats have been calling for this since last November.
Local Liberal Democrat Mark Blackburn said:
"This isn't the first time that the Conservatives in charge of Westminster Council have swiped one of our ideas. Last year, after we suggested that the front page of the Council website should include a direct link to information on recycling, hey presto, it appeared there!
"We're quite OK with it. The Tories have been in power in Westminster since the Council was created in the 1960s. After being in charge for that long they are bound to have run out of ideas of their own.
"We'd now like to see the Council rid itself of the Lord Mayor's gas-guzzling Rolls-Royce limousine. Come on, Sir Simon, do your bit and sell it now."
